Baboons at Cape Point

These guys are frequent visitors to the car park at Cape Point.

They are skilled and savvy opportunists, so be sure to hide your food as they are permanently hungry.

Baboon monitors are always on point duty so that visitors to the most South Western tip of Africa are able to relax and enjoy its breath-taking views.

Penguins at Boulders Beach

A very popular stopping point for visitors is the African penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

These little sea-birds and their strange mannerisms can keep you entertained for hours. Their awkwardness on land is more than compensated for when they hit the water. Adept and fast swimmers, make them excellent at catching fish, their staple diet. Their donkey-like call, is the reason they were formerly known as Jackass penguins.

Canola Fields, Overberg

If you catch the Overberg at the right time of the year, the undulating fields of new wheat and flowering canola in these farmlands offer visitors a vivid colour palette.

The vibrant green and yellow contrast is also a fitting reminder that you are in South Africa, as these are the same colours worn by  our National sporting teams.

The area is often referred to as the breadbasket of South Africa.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

The botanical gardens are a celebration of the diversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom.

Although it may be the smallest of the planet’s six plant kingdoms, it is nevertheless home to 9000 species, of which roughly 6000 are unique to the area. Known locally as “Fynbos”, these include the King Protea which is South Africa’s national flower, Ericas and Restios. A new inclusion is the “Boomslang” walkway, which gives visitors an elevated view of the gardens. The colours in spring are spectacular.

Knysna Heads

One of the many sights of great natural beauty in the Garden Route area, the Heads guard the entrance to Knysna lagoon and town.

It creates a natural division between the calmness of the lagoon and the fury of the Indian Ocean.

It is estimated that the amount of water that flows in and out of the lagoon with the daily tides, is equivalent to the same volume of water that flows over Niagara falls in a year. This area offers visitors with many diverse activities.

Route 62

Ostriches in the Oudtshoorn area on Route 62 have evolved over the years. Initially their highly prized feathers were used in the early 1900’s as fashion accessories, but now they are farmed for their meat and eggs.

One ostrich egg is the equivalent in volume to 24 chicken eggs.

A visit to an Ostrich farm is a must when in the area. You might even see an ostrich race.

West Coast Flowers

Springtime on the West Coast is when the true floral diversity of the area can be witnessed.

The semi – desert scrubland is replaced by an explosion of colour that is absolutely breath-taking. A mixture of daisies, vygies and gazanias are some of the species that bloom in September, transforming the area.

There are also many guest houses in the small towns and on farms to house the many visitors.

Golf Tours

The many courses available in Cape Town, the Overberg and the Garden Route are a must for any golfer. The course variety coupled with favourable weather all year round, provide opportunities for a rich golfing experience.

A keen golfer myself, I am a member at the Westlake golf club in Cape Town, which recently hosted the SA ladies open, and should certainly be on everyone’s playing list.

I can design an itinerary to suit all needs which would include some sightseeing on days off the course.

Tour Options

We would like visitors to have input in their holiday experience. People are different, and their tourism experiences should reflect these differences. We make contact with our clients well before the tour takes place, to discuss the itinerary and personalise the tour to their interests. If experts in more diverse fields are required, we will find them!

What our guests say…

When on tour we often don’t get to see a lot of the country we’re in. Hotel and cricket grounds seem to be the best it gets. However with Colin and his tour group we got to see all parts of what Cape Town had to offer. He was very informative speaking on a wide range of subjects, got his hands dirty with a game of beach cricket and even sampled the strongest of cheese! He made our experience even better with his expertise of the area, his friendly and fun nature and the comfort that we had travelling with him, no stone was left unturned. Thank you Colin! Until next time, for our next tour!

Mark Wood

England Cricketer

Myself and 2 others booked a private 2 day tour with Colin, to explore the stunning scenery and sights around Cape Town. Colin devised a full itinerary for both days, taking us to the wine regions of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and to the beautiful coast and beaches of the Cape Peninsula. His local knowledge is excellent and he was the perfect guide and companion. Despite having an itinerary, Colin didn’t hesitate to deviate to places and to do things which were spur of the moment requests. He made it clear that it was our tour and his priority was to maximise our days and enjoyment. We certainly did that, for which we will be forever grateful. I will use Colin’s services again when I return to Cape Town for a holiday with my wife and I would not hesitate in recommending Colin to others.

We had the pleasure of Colin ‘Bomber’ Harris who went above and beyond for our tour party. We had a great blend of cricket, meals out and seeing the amazing sites whos advice thoughout was greatly received. King’s College, Taunton cricket squad could not thank him enough for a very memorable tour of South Africa.

Rob Woodman

Director of cricket , King's College Taunton

We have had such an amazing tour. ‘Bomber’ was with us from start to finish. His down to earth personality and his willingness to constantly help was second to none. His knowledge of the western cape, his South African heritage/history and his contacts made for a truly exceptional experience. Our tour of Cape Point was a real highlight where his commentary was not only hugely Informative but with the light hearted sense of humour we had grown so fond of during our time with him. We had a number of things rescheduled or cancelled and Bomber was on it straight away and found contacts and alternatives that kept the flow of the tour going. He is also a hugely enthusiastic cricketer and sportsman and was fascinating to chat to. He also managed to book half the group onto the golf course whilst there. We will miss his wonderful company but will look forward to seeing him when we return in 3 years time.

Phil Lewis

Head of Sport, King's College Taunton

In our short time in Cape Town for our tour I found Bomber very accommodating.
He was punctual, thorough, knowledgeable and well planned.
He has an easygoing personality which allows you to feel you are in very safe hands.
I look forward to our next trip! Cheers!

Jason "Dizzy" Gillespie

Australian Test Cricketer & Sussex Head Coach

Colin “Bomber” Harris was just brilliant during our recent cricket tour in Cape Town. The tour was unfortunately curtailed due to the Covid 19 virus. This meant that grounds and opposition became unavailable. Colin went out of his way to make sure our students were looked after, were able to get around via his transport and made sure each student, who had booked an early flight back home was taken safely to the airport. I can not thank Bomber enough”

Russel Cobb

Head Cricket Coach, Loughborough MCCU

I like hearing how the locals live and your stories are intriguing.  We felt really safe the whole time.  Your knowledge of Geography is really insightful!

Thank you again for an unforgettable trip!  We can not say enough great things about Colin and our tour with him around Cape Town.
We were recommended to him and are so glad we were! We opted for 3 days and our main mission was to see as much of the wine region as possible, Colin did not disappoint! We did a day of Stellenbosch, a day at Franschhoek and a sight seeing day for the must see Cape Town points like Cape Point and Table Mountain. Colin was extremely professional while still maintaining a friendly vibe. We definitely became friends after this trip! He has all the history information we could ask for and new the best places to visit and when. He planned all the winery tours and lunches for us and each and every one hit the mark.

His vehicle was roomy and comfortable and it was a pleasure to drive around Cape Town. Colin was very accommodating when there were special stops we wanted to make that were not on the agenda and was great about switching things around to do things on days/times when the best wineries were open and the best time to do certain activities.

We could not recommend Colin enough and look forward to touring with him again next time we’re in Cape Town!

Julie and Dean Couchey

Lynda Tighe (Ottowa)

This has truly been one of the most heart warming experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve loved everything about this trip. The people, the places, the animals, the hospitality cannot be surpassed anywhere. We had so many many laughs together it has been so good for my soul. Colin – your guiding was excellent and we received top notch care in both Kruger and Thorn Tree. All of the staff at Thorn Tree would greet us by name each day and as the monkeys, elephants, hippos, baboons roamed the property. It was breath taking. Thanks to everyone who joined this journey and thanks to Marloe, Scott and Colin for putting this all together for us – a total outstanding accomplishment 🥰

Nancy Wynter, Ottowa

Thank you Marloe Scott and Colin. You are amazing like this sunrise on the Zambezi this my. Thank you for making this a trip of a lifetime. Hopefully we will connect again and be able to plan another adventure.

"Aggie" (Agnel)

“While on holiday in Cape Town with my friends, we took a day trip with Colin Harris to Cape Point. We also visited Simons Town and Boulders Bay. Colin was a most excellent guide with good local knowledge and was happy to answer questions along the way. He was very patient with us and allowed us to spend as much time as we wanted in each location in order to get pictures etc. He was a very safe and courteous driver and was happy to stop if we saw something interesting and wanted to take pictures. The booking process was simple and he explained clearly what our costs would be for each part of the trip. He answered our messages promptly whenever we had any questions. I would definitely recommend Colin if you’re planning day trips while on holiday in South Africa . We felt very safe while travelling around with a local person with good local knowledge” 🌟 🌟 🌟🌟🌟

Keith Walker and Dave Penney- former Swansea footballers

Colin was a wonderful guide for my tour around the cape. There was never a dull moment chatting in the car as he discussed the history of the area and important geographical features. Because this was a private tour, we were able to avoid most of the early March tour bus crowds. The only area I could call busy was at the penguins and Colin helped me get into good viewing spot and helped me get some pictures with them. I feel that I was able to get more time and enjoyment out of the whole experience as a result of his thoughtful planning. We even had enough time to enjoy a glass at one of the wineries on the way back! Giving all the stars. Thank you, Colin!
